Come with me for a long weekend in Morocco!

In 2023 I visited Marrakesh, Morocco. We did a girly weekend away, which was so much fun!
Our Stay was for 4 nights and booked with On the Beach (Website link) from Stansted Airport.
We stayed at the Aqua Fun Club (Hotel Link), 4 star Rated Hotel & 4.5 star Tripadvisor Reviews.
My ratings:
Hotel? 7/10
Would we go back to Marrakesh? Yes, we didn't do too much as it was just a chilled break away, but would love to go back and see a little more.
Would we stay at that hotel again? No, it just wasn't for me. I'll explain more below, there isn't anything wrong with it, I just think there could be better hotels around.
Things we did? 6/10 (purely because we didn't do anything)
Travel:
We flew into Marrakesh had a Private Transfer to the hotel, booked through Holiday Extras which took around 30 mins. This only cost around £15 but honestly wasn't a great experience. When you come out of the airport the taxi rank is just outside, they all want you to get in their taxis (the same as most places). Holiday extras said our name would be help up so we could find the driver, but this didn't happen. We were stood waiting for around 10 mins confused and eventually managed to find our name on a tiny board along with around 50 other names.
Tip- When you get out, look out for the name of the company you have been told to look out for. If you don't find it, check the boards dotted around for your name. Its long and annoying but if we knew this when we got there it would have been a lot less stressful.
The driver was lovely, he gave us his number in case we wanted to go anywhere during our stay for a reduced rate. He spoke English and was very helpful.
On the way back to the airport, the driver sent me a whatsapp of the pick up time and arrived at our hotel for then. We had some trouble checking out but he was happy to wait and took us straight to the airport when we were ready.

Hotel:
The hotel was clean and I would say is pretty good for kids. It has a huge waterpark that people can use from outside too, entertainment through the day and a kids club.
As far as a chilled resort i would say this isn't the one. Not that it's an issue, but if that's what you're looking for i'm sure there are better places.
There were plenty of sunbeds around the pool areas, some with shades some not. We managed to get in the same spot everyday without any trouble.
The entertainment staff are quite pushy and could be a little rude at times when you didn't want to join in. But the activities they put on looked great fun. They did aqua aerobics, darts and other water games.
In the evenings they had entertainment on which was good fun, they did karaoke one night and so many guests got involved, the terrace was packed. They also had the sports on so people could watch the football outside which was great. There is a bar there too so drinks and football, the lads were happy.
We didn't leave the hotel as it was just 3 of us all women and we were slightly worried about it. There didn't seem to be too much nearby when we were driving, but you could get a taxi to the centre to do shopping and have a look around.
There is a pool bar and indoor bar by the entertainment.
There are lots of cats around the hotel. For me as a cat mum it's great. They were all friendly just hungry. But they do hang around the restaurant which i understand can be off putting for people.

Food/ Drink at the hotel:
Where do i start..... Food - Not great.
When we first arrived it was late so they put on a late dinner for us which we were really grateful for. There wasn't too much but was just nice to have a bite to eat.
Waking up the next day we had breakfast, I had an omelette (which i ended up having every day, these were actually really good). There wasn't too much else to choose from but there was some fruits and some pastries.
Lunch was okay, pasta, chips, salad. As a little bit of a fussy eater i didn't find much, but luckily they had lots of the things i do like. This doesn't bother me when i go away as i know it's not forever. I can live off chips and cucumber for a week, i'm sure the scales will thank me! Lunch was the same sort of thing every day, if you were staying for a week it definitely is repetitive.
Dinner was very similar but with some meat or fish options. I'm not a fan of fish but meat I can do. I always found something even if again it was chips or pasta. But i was only there for 4 nights so really any food is a win!
Drinks were the opposite! They had a great menu of cocktails you could choose from at the bars. Iced coffees in the cafe indoors with syrups you could choose (these were lovely, started every morning off with one!). Fizzy or juices available too and the bar staff were all lovely. They did come in plastic cups but as i said its very kid friendly so this made sense.

Honestly, i hate to do this but i have no idea! We went from the Airport to the hotel and back again.
Below are things i've found near by, I hope this helps a little!
The Souk Markets are around 30 minute drive and you can book a tour with a group or go by yourselves. I know some people have done this trip before and said it was great so definitely worth it if you want to venture out.
Smile park, amusement park (6 min drive)
Marrakesh Museum (30 min Drive)
Jardin Majorelle, exotic Plants, water features & a museum of Berber Culture (35 mins Drive)
Summary:
As far as a blog goes, i know this is one of my more boring ones :( SORRY! Hopefully i'll go again and i can add to my experience for you. But i do like to be honest and at least share the things i did experience.
It's been another fairly moany one (im sure at this point you're wondering if i ever go on holidays i enjoy). But i honestly did have the best time. My opinions are purely to shed some light on the stay itself. Just because there were things that weren't great doesn't mean i didn't have a fantastic time, trust me i'd tell you!
The people were lovely, the hotel was fine, there was nothing that would put me off from going again to Morocco. I would like to try Agadir but have heard the weather can be iffy.
