In 2023 me and my best friend took a trip to Costa Brava, Spain for a girly weekend away!
Our Stay was for 3 nights and booked with Jet2Holidays from Stansted Airport.
We stayed at the 30 Degrees Hotel Pineda Splash, 4 star Rated Hotel & 4 star Tripadvisor Reviews.
My ratings:
Hotel? 6/10
Would we go back to Costa Brava? Yes, Spain is always the perfect cheap get away. The flight it short and you know what you're getting. It's not the best in my opinion but always great fun!
Would we stay at that hotel again? Yes, but only if it was a great price again.
Things we did? 6/10 (purely because we didn't do anything)
Travel: We flew into Girona Airport and had a coach transfer included in our package holiday to our hotel. This took around 1.5 hours.
Hotel:
The hotel was very clean tidy and looked modern. We were pretty happy when we turned up. For the price we paid it was much nicer than we were expecting. We had a Deluxe Double room which was a great size for the two of us. The room had a balcony too which was great.
The hotel is in a fairly built up area so its hard to get sun all day, but there are two different areas you can use which worked great.
On one side of the hotel they have an adults only section (upstairs), with a lovely pool and comfy sunbeds. This is great for the morning as the sun is this side until around 12/1pm. This side also has the kids pool with slides and a bucket that drops water. PLenty of sunbeds here for parents and a bar. The only downside to the adults only section is you have to go downstairs to the bar and toilets, which isn't an issue just an observation. And they do actually allow kids in the area, if they splash and are noisy the lifeguard does tell them but its not a strict adults only area which may annoy some people.
The other side of the hotel has the bigger pool which has the sun in the afternoon. We would spend the morning upstairs, go for lunch and chill by the bigger pool in the afternoons, it worked great for us. This pool has a ramp to get in which is a great touch, with handrails down the side of it too. A smaller pool for little ones is over this side too so you don't have to worry about the water being too deep.
The food hall is just behind the larger pool, breakfast, lunch and dinner are all served in the same hall and you have to give your room number to be able to enter.
This hotel has entertainment in the evening which was pretty funny. They did bingo one night and had shows on too.
Food/ Drink at the hotel:
Well.... Another moany one from me.
Food wasn't great. If i was staying for more than 3 days i would go self catering at this hotel. It is very much the same food each day and through out the day too. We were quite happy living off chips and mozzarella balls but i could see why some people would find that disappointing which is why i have to be negative :(
They did have some meats scattered around and there was always something you could have for dinner, even if it was randomly put together. But i found lunch the hardest.
There is plenty of restaurants near by so self catering would definitely be the better option. The hotel is lovely, it's just the food that lets it down in my opinion.
The drinks tasted good, we were quite happy sipping cocktails all day and they did do iced coffees (if you've read my other blogs you would know this is a must for me!). There isn't much to choose from on the all inclusive but they do have menus that make this clear so you can pick off there. You're standard cocktails are included and standard spirits with mixers so there isn't really a problem with this. You can pay for alternative drinks and they weren't too pricey which is good. Spain is usually like this anyway so i didn't expect much more.
Near By:
The beach is around a 10 minute walk away, its so lovely and its huge. We only went in the evening but the sunset was beautiful. Lots of people walking and enjoying it still later on in the day.
Near the beach is lots of souvenir shops and restaurants/ bars. We ate out for tea at Pizzeria Italia Pineda. The pizzas were lovely and it was so cheap for 2 of us. I think the whole meal came to around £25 with drinks.
There is also an Adventure park (Activ Natura Parc D'Adventura) which is 10 minutes away. We didn't go here but its something you could do if you're looking for a day out.
Summary:
I had the best time on this holiday. Such a chilled lovely weekend away, for the price and with the company there really wasn't anything to complain about.
If you're looking for a lovely week away or a family trip this may not be the place to stay for you. But as i said the whole hotel is actually lovely its just the food that lets it down.
I used to go to spain a lot as a kid and would definitly return, its just always such an easy get away. It's very traveller friendly here and feels extremely safe.
